Agency fights child abuse with education
They can be seen on local newstations and newspapers–stories of child abuse and neglect that not only damage children physically, but can ravage them mentally.
In Butler, a young boy dies of blood poisoning while his toddler sister has suffered four broken bones in two separate incidents–apparently at the hand of their mother. A Mercer County man is charged with having sex with an 11-year-old girl, while his girlfriend covered for him. An Armstrong County woman is charged with murder after her four-year-old daughter’s emaciated body is found stuffed in a cooler.
No region or demographic is safe from the threat of child abuse or neglect. But there are organizations who are working to fight against child abuse.
The Indiana County Center for Family Life plays a very important role in not only protecting children who have been abused, but trying to prevent child abuse countywide. Yet many people may not know the organization exists.
