Child Welfare agreement decree dismissed
United States District Court (Southern District) today announced an order of dismissal today Marion County Children’s consent decree of 1992. The finding of the Court of Auditors, Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) efforts to ensure adequate staffing and funding for child protection.

DCS has several measures to improve the quality of life of children of Indiana, including:
– Securing additional 800 cases of the Family Manager.
– Expanding caseworker training in a public partnership with the leader IUPUI School of Social Work.
– Receiving Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) authorization for the first time in 32 years.
– Strengthen the collection of child and the creation of a distribution unit of state.
– Establish training programs for having prepared the family Case Manager are in the scope and the practicalities of reform.
– The practical implementation of reforms, transforming the nature and case manager for child protection, support families and extended families and communities as a partner.
“These changes are to build better results for families,” said James Payne, DCS director.
In 1989, the Indiana Civil Liberties Union (ICLU) Filed a class action against the State, on behalf of stations in the Marion County and their parents.
