“Nothing would have stopped.”

Keith Wallace, director of the Agency USA adoption by families of Intercountry Adoption (FTIA), said the SARS epidemic was an additional concern for couples already shaken by the adoption process.

But he said that for many families, there was no question of relocation of their journey.

“To travel to China is an absolute necessity,” he said.

“If parents decide to leave so, we see only one parent, rather than two,” he added.

Mr. Kim said he is currently the subject of three families from his agency were ready to go to China to collect their children - and all three have been discussed, if the risk of travel.
