CUJ Q & A

This is the second part of BankInfoSecurity.com an interview with Dr. Markus Jakobsson, a professor at Indiana University, is the implementation of research on “phishing”, and was originally headed Linda McGleeson, editor of BankInfoSecurity.com.

CUJ: So, you say, if a consumer is a padlock on its Web site on a Web page, plus a trust? And what are some examples that you give, and what works with SSL certification?

Jakobsson: SSL is a. .. cryptographic procedures used for the connection between a place and a user to connect to the website, so that nobody could tap water in the conversation by routing perhaps transport, and thus learning, information found. They do not want someone to listen, for identifying information you found. SSL has become one aspect of the distinction, if something is a phishing site or not. In general, phishing, SSL Web sites do not have locks on them. But unfortunately, this is not important because the average consumer, they do not notice the absence of the barrier. The studies that I was part of the service have shown very explicit, that people commented on the inclusion of false information, as if you call it “Joe” and his name is Joe not notice immediately. But people are not noticing the lack of equipment. For example, if this is not a lock on the site, it’s not really feel as if you have something. And this is of course a major concern, too. For example, financial institutions such as Bank of America, they leave on the construction site keys, is a visual sign that people should recognize, to know that the Web site. And you can even cheat by saying that in an e-mail, because of the Americans with Disabilities Act, we have now changed the image you are driving, to see, and here, watching, see your image today. And now, are you going to this site, and phishers would give a new image, and acknowledge that you agree with them, but first, of course, you need to authenticate, so that we know That you. And this is a very bad.
